How to use

Build from the generated plan, not from guesswork.

  1. 1. Choose the sphere diameter and whether you want a hollow shell or a filled solid.
  2. 2. Drag the 3D sphere to inspect the exact generated surface, or switch to Cutaway to compare the hollow shell with a filled interior.
  3. 3. Move through the layer slider from bottom to top and build each slice centered on the same vertical axis.
  4. 4. Turn on the previous-layer ghost when you need a faint alignment guide beneath the current slice.
  5. 5. Use the matching-layer note to reuse the same pattern on the opposite half of the sphere.
  6. 6. Use the layer block count to gather materials in batches instead of guessing the full build cost.
  7. 7. Mark each finished layer complete; the tool saves your settings and progress locally so you can resume later.

Technical notes

Important Minecraft block-grid details

Odd diameters have a single center column; even diameters are centered between four blocks.
This generator tests block centers against a spherical radius, so other generators may choose slightly different edge blocks.
Hollow mode keeps block centers between the outer and inner 3D sphere radii, producing a closed shell; filled mode includes every block center inside the sphere.
The safe interactive range is 5–101 blocks; above 64, the 3D view keeps the exact surface but reduces grid detail while rotating.

How do I build a Minecraft sphere from the layers?

Start at the lowest layer, keep every slice centered on the same x,z origin, and stack the generated patterns upward.

Should I use hollow or filled mode?

Use hollow for glass balls, shells, and decorative planets. Use filled mode for solid terrain, sculptures, or material calculations. Their outside silhouettes match, so use the 3D Cutaway view or a center layer to see the interior difference.

Why does an even diameter sphere have no single center block?

Even sizes center between four blocks, so the vertical axis runs between blocks instead of through one exact center block.

Can I use this for Minecraft Java and Bedrock?

Yes. The output is a block placement guide, so the same layer patterns work in both editions.

Why do two Minecraft sphere generators show different block counts?

Voxel spheres approximate curved geometry on a block grid. Generators may use different radius, block-center, and shell-boundary rules, so edge blocks and totals can differ while both results remain symmetrical.

Which sphere layers can I reuse?

Layers mirror vertically. Layer 1 matches the final layer, layer 2 matches the second-to-last layer, and the center layer of an odd sphere mirrors itself.

What does sphere thickness change?

Thickness controls how many blocks deep a hollow shell extends toward the center. It does not change the outside diameter or silhouette, and it is not used in Filled mode.

Will the sphere generator remember my build progress?

Yes. The current sphere settings, selected layer, Ghost Layer preference, and completed layers are saved in local browser storage on this device. Shared links include the sphere settings but not your private completion progress.

Can I rotate and zoom the Minecraft sphere preview?
